At Bring it on Baby we like to include the Dads in the preparation for labour, birth and fatherhood.
In the ‘Dads Session’ during our Birthing class, the Dads in the group get to break off into their own group, away from the Mums and discuss what it means to become a Dad.
They discuss what they are looking forward to, how they imagine it is going to be. They share fears they might have and also how excited they may be about becoming a Dad.
There are all types of Dads, like there are Mums so we try capture the similarities and differences between the group of men, which often leads to discussions that otherwise may not have happened. Not one group has ever been alike, it is surprising and heart warming to hear just how much these dads are looking to be involved with their babies and we always learn from these awesome Dads.
Dads have a huge role to play in a Childs life, this begins in pregnancy by supporting that child’s wonderful mother. If a woman is well supported, she feels less anxious, happier and therefore more able to cope and communicate her needs with her partner.
A Bring it on Baby birhting class brings couples closer, as we facilitate this open communication between couples.
Many men leave our 5 hour birthing class saying they are relieved, and more prepared than when they arrived, bleary eyed early on a Sunday Morning to attend our course.
It is always lovely to see couples leave with a big smile on their faces and talking positively about what is to come next.
