Tips for building a strong attachment with your Baby
Building a beautiful bond with your baby begins in pregnancy and strengthens after your baby's birth.
When you book a Bring it on Baby Birthing Class, you will learn techniques that help you and your baby bond from the very beginning.
When pregnant - the touch of your belly by you and your partner starts to initiate that special bond between parents and their baby. Once your little one has arrived - holding your baby, having skin to skin contact in those first hours & weeks and giving cuddles are all super important. They help your baby’s emotions to soothe and regulate.
Gentle touch through play or the use of baby massage is also effective. It creates mutual happiness between parents and their new baby, a time of connection and being present.
Making eye contact with your baby from the day they are born will make your baby feel reassured and build connection with you as parents. Whilst feeding your baby, gaze at them instead of being on your phone. At 6 weeks of age, your baby will regularly focus on your facial expression and eyes for that reassurance and positive feedback. Smile at your baby, make faces and watch them absorb and learn from you as they mimic your expressions.
Talk to your Baby, explain what you are doing. Express your emotions of happy and sad when they are with you. Sing to your baby. Even if you don’t know the words! Tell Dad jokes, laugh with your baby. Infant communication through verbal que’s is important, even in utero. Think about the tone you use when you talk to each other and your baby.
Enjoy your Baby via all of their senses and your relationship with your baby and your baby's development will thrive.
