Rest is Best
Welcome to motherhood - with so many things to learn about your new baby and an endless to do list it, it can be tough to hit the pause button. However tiredness is one of the most common problems that new mums/parents face.
To cope with the demands of being a new mum you need to be in good shape physically and mentally - prioritise your heath and learn to do less and rest more for a happier you and a happier baby and family.
Why is rest so important for a new mum?
- It helps to promote breast milk
- It calms and soothes your central nervous system to reduce anxiety levels
- It steadies and calms your emotions
- It can build a sleep deposit to help you cope better with sleepless nights
- it allows you to make better judgements without the brain fog
Tips for promoting rest:
- Limit visitors to set days/times and be ok about saying no to visitors or cancelling appointments
- Make a rest-nest on the couch with pillows and diffuse lavender oil
- Cook and freeze some meals
- Have a well stocked pantry
- Outsource/minimise housework and petcare
- Take the phone off the hook - put your mobile phone on airplane mode
- Breath and practice simple meditation techniques
